In this monthlong, hybrid book group and workshop, we will focus on practical and elegant solutions for trauma. Healing does not have to be arduous or dramatic. It is right where we are, inviting us to embrace our own evolution and move forward toward a new era of understanding. Healing can and does happen through awareness, action and allowing.
The goal of this four-week book group is to create a safe, held space where healing can manifest, and to place our individual and collective traumas in a fresh context.
The blueprint for these gatherings is the groundbreaking 2014 book The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk, M.D. Each session in this nurturing space will include: a healing meditation/visualization; an expansion of knowledge; and shared insights.
In Part 1, we covered the first 99 pages of the book (a playlist is available for free on YouTube). Part 2 will focus on paths to recovery. While no reading is required, we encourage you to engage in this very helpful book.
If you do not already have a copy, you are welcome to purchase The Body Keeps the Score from New Renaissance Bookshop in the store at 1338 NW 23rd Ave., or on their online shop. Thank you for supporting this independently owned store.
We look forward to gathering and growing with you.
