David Bowie felt like a friend. We recognized ourselves in his fearless flamboyance. His expressions reflected the vastness of our interior lives. This made him dear to us, as he honored the weirdness and isolation we all feel. He wrote brilliant songs about us, and for us. Songs that are gifts from our friend – a hot tramp hero with a snow white tan.
Thank you, angels, for being escorting the amazing soul that is David Bowie into his new way of being. We celebrate this heroic artist for the possibilities in life that he modeled for us and mastered in himself. We honor the ways in which he enhanced and changed lives with songs, words, styles, looks, photographs, films, videos, concerts and in life. We celebrate the fascinating life this man lived, and look forward to the contributions he makes from the non-physical. We are grateful for his life and his work. Thank you for blessing his children, his wife, his family, his friends and all of us who love him. Thank you.
My friend Ryan took this photo in front of David’s loft in New York on Monday evening (1/11/16).
