Have you noticed how agreements with ourselves and others are being broken?
Now is the time to allow old habits and patterns to recede into the background, and welcome new methods and perspectives to come forward. We have an opportunity to be fresh in our approach to different aspects of life.
For instance, if we look at our lives in terms of care and harm, we a given a clear picture of what we can change. Are we caring for ourselves and others? Where is there harm? Personally, nationally and globally, harming ourselves and each other is a broken agreement.
Robin Williams’ death unnerved us as he violated our agreement with him. That agreement was that he would provide us with hilarious insights into our world, while we would validate him with laughter. We would make him visible by seeing and hearing him. His death by his own hand violates our idea of what it means to have “made it”. That fact that a brilliant man who was a multi-millionaire and adored by the world could still suffer so much challenges our sense of safety and what it means to be successful. Yet, past the shock of his death is peace. In connecting with him since his transition, there is an overwhelming sense of relief. Simply, he was ready to be out of that body and done with the pain. While speaking with a friend about this, the angels pointed out that it is a miracle he held on for so long.
In America, the method and context of harm matters. Two of our modern gladiators – footballs stars – broke agreements with those close to them. One harmed his wife, the other his 4 year-old son. In response to these incidents, America is suddenly fed up with domestic violence, and it looks like this shift might actually create meaningful change. Yet, if a gun is used, we can count on there being a fuss for a few days, but nothing will change (for now). We retreat back to our sense of futility with regard to regulating weapons (for now). Still, we are witnessing progress in no longer accepting harm, but not a substantial change in the use of weapons (yet).
So, what is there for us to do? The action we take will be different for each of us. To assist you, here is a three minute video on Clearing and Shielding Your Energy, and a short mp3 on Creating Your Day in 4:44.
I invite you to share your thoughts and experiences about what self care of is like for you.
